Aphano hidden deck fasteners can be installed faster than screws.

The following comparison assumes that the installer will go through the necessary steps to insure that the screws are straight and as well-hidden as possible. Some people use string or pencil lines - others do not. Like any process, installing Aphano hidden deck fasteners for the first time is a learning experience. After just a few boards you will wonder why you ever even considered using screws.

Aphano fasteners

  1. Place the deckboard in the proper position.
  2. Press it tightly against the previous board.
  3. Draw a line on the bottom of the deckboard along the joists - no measuring required.
  4. Attach the fasteners to the bottom of the deckboard using two screws. There is never a need to pre-drill or countersink.
  5. Place the deckboard in position and attach it to the joists.
Screws
  1. Place the deckboard in the proper position.
  2. Draw a pencil line using a framing square while making sure to stay centered over the joists.
  3. Pre-drill and countersink the holes.
  4. Attach the deckboard to the joists using screws (of course some will strip out now and then).
  5. Attempt to cover the screws with plugs or by pinching the deck material over the top.
  6. When finished, go back and attempt to erase the lines from the surface of the deckboards.

The above comparison assumes that there is no access from below the deck. There is never a need to go below the deck with Aphano hidden deck fasteners. However, if there is access below the the deck then the installation of Aphano hidden deck fasteners can be even easier:

* Place the deckboard in proper position with the preferred side gap.
* The person under the deck attaches the fastener to the deckboard.
* The person above attaches the front tab of the fastener to the joist at a downward angle.

With two people, and access from below the deck, you can install your decking faster than you ever thought possible.
